The Frontal Lobes of the brain are the most anterior, which means they are positioned right behind your forehead and at the top-front of your head. There is a left lobe and a right lobe.
The Frontal Lobe is surrounded by five other important brain sections:
the parietal lobe (math, calculations, sensation occurs),
the occipital lobe (visualization occurs) ,
the cerebellum (the coordination occurs),
the brain stem, and
the temporal lobe (music abilities occurs).
The neurologists are telling us that behind the forehead is The Crown of the Brain, the Frontal Lobe.
The Frontal Lobe is a critical center and it controls the “essence” of our humanity, according to Dr. Donald Stuss of The Rotman Research Institute.
Scientific studies show that the frontal lobe is the seat of:
Some people are not religion persuasion and they get the idea that they are not spiritual. Every human being worships because they have a Frontal Lobe. The difference is who they are worshiping or what they are worshiping. Every human being has a capacity to worship because they have a Frontal Lobe, and worships full activity, even the atheists.
The Frontal Lobe, which is also called the cerebral cortex, is the seat of emotions and judgments related to sympathy (the ability to feel sorrow for someone else’s suffering), and empathy (the ability to understand another’s feelings and problems). The Frontal Lobe is also the seat of understanding humor, including subtle witticisms and word plays. The Frontal Lobe also recognizes sarcasm and irony. The Frontal Lobe is the place where recognition of deception occurs. The Frontal Lobe control the processes called “mentalizing” upon which our socialization is based, this is the ability to understand another’s mental processes.
Frontal Lobe can be compromised due to different factors.
The Effects of a compromised Frontal Lobe
- Impairment of moral principle
- Social impairment (loss of love for family)
- Lack of foresight
- Abstract reasoning impaired
- Mathematical understanding diminished
- Loss of empathy
- Lack of restraint
The ways in which we can damage the Frontal Lobe:
Some prescription drugs (called Legal Drugs)
Alcohol – Alcohol affects the Frontal Lobe first (coordination is not affected, but the judgment is off and due to poor decision-making accidents happen)
Nicotine – has subtle effect
Caffeine (coffee & tea) blocks the adenosine receptors in the Frontal Lobe, and causes issues in judgment. Studies show that typists under the influence of caffeine can type faster but make ten times more errors. Caffeine will increase your likelihood that you will gossip. In a social setting you share information about a person who is not part of the problem or part of the solution to the problem. Bristol University researchers found the caffeine beverage drinkers develop a tolerance to both the anxiety-producing and the stimulating effects of caffeine, meaning that it only brings them back to baseline levels of alertness, not above them. Measurements showed that the caffeine users post-caffeine levels of alertness were actually no higher than the non-caffeine consumers who received a placebo, suggesting caffeine only brings coffee drinkers back up to” normal”. In other words all the benefits of caffeine are present virtually all day in those who do not consume it. Neuropsychopharmacology June 2, 2010
Hypnosis attempts to cancel out Frontal Lobe functions and bring people into a trance in which they are highly suggestible. This is most easily accomplished by training the eyes to focus on one abject, the best object being a little flickering light. The person will record information and duties without interpretation, or without Frontal Lobe activity (Hypnosis Textbook). If your eyes are on a particular object and that object is flickering, studies shows that between 90 seconds to 3 minutes your brain waves turn into alpha waves brain waves, where the memory is still intact, your emotions are still intact, but you are no longer critically analyzing the information. Your Frontal Lobe has been subdued. The majority of people have an hypnotic instrument in their homes. What trains the eyes to focus on one object and flickers? The answer is “Entertainment Television”. What produces the flicker is the rapid scenes of reference change. In “Entertainment Television” the average scene of reference changes every 3 seconds, there is a constant camera switching going on and within 90 seconds to 3 minutes you go into alpha waves rhythm. When watching a violent TV show or listening to angry music, we allow ourselves to be shaped by those principles by letting them into our brain. However, we do not actually act out the violence. Video games, on the other hand, invoke the players to actively participate in the violent behavior through their game character. We always need to be careful what we are letting into our brains. The effect of television on our mind – Frontal Lobe – is one of the most well researched subjects in our culture, yet most people have little awareness of TV viewing’s solemn consequences. Over 3,000 studies were done on “Entertainment Television” and over 500 books were written of the subject and all show a significant decline in Frontal Lobe function.
As a result of these studies:
Daydreaming is increased
Creative Ingenuity is decreased
Interest in reading is decreased
Interest in learning is decreased
Discernment is reduced
Aggressiveness is increased
Sensitivity to violence is reduced
Addictiveness is increased
Decreases your IQ
If you stop using “Entertainment Television” for 30 days you are going to start having insomnia, anxiety in the first few days.
Others issues related to Frontal Lobe will be discussed in another blog.
